Specialist Medicals is conveniently located at Fernside Fields aerodrome (NZFE), providing medical examination and assessment services for New Zealand CAA pilot and ATC medicals, CASA medicals, FAA medicals and occupational diving medicals.

Dr Greg van der Hulst is a Grade 1 medical examiner for CAA, a CASA DAME, FAA AME and New Zealand Designated Diving Doctor.  He has had a long association with aviation and is a keen recreational pilot.  He has a Masters in Aviation Medicine (Otago), and post graduate diplomas and certificates in Aeromedical Retrieval, Diving and Hyperbaric Medicine and Clinician-Performed Ultrasound.  He holds a part time consultant position at Christchurch Hospital at the Hyperbaric Medicine Unit and also consults for Air New Zealand and Airways.

Specialist Medicals’ office is conveniently located only 5 minutes west of Rangiora.  The adjacent 825m aerodrome allows pilots to fly in for their medicals.  We make all attempts to provide appointments at convenient times, including evening and weekend appointments on request.

While a mobile service can be offered, Specialist Medicals exists primarily to serve the needs of Canterbury-based professional pilots, controllers and divers.
